What We Do
Maharishi School is a non-religious, non-denominational school. We welcome children of all faiths and none, and our pupils come from a wide range of backgrounds.
We follow the same curriculum as all state schools in England and Wales, ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded and high-quality education. Classes are small, with a maximum of 20 pupils per year. Children are taught in mixed-ability classes, with work adapted to support those who need extra help with certain topics and to challenge those who are high achieving and ready to progress further.
Maharishi School is a very popular choice for parents, and our secondary phase is always oversubscribed. However, we guarantee a secondary place for every child who has a place at our primary school, ensuring a smooth and familiar transition for them as they continue their education.
What makes us different is the wraparound approach we take to the national curriculum, personal development and well-being. Consciousness-based Education is at the heart of school life, helping children develop focus, resilience, and a deep understanding of themselves and the world around them. Our approach also includes healthy eating, regular exercise, a strong connection with the natural landscape, core values that underpin good decision-making, and carefully structured use of digital tools to prepare young people for the modern world of work.
We are very aware of the dangers of the modern digital world. Social media, smartphones, and constant online distractions can be harmful to young people’s mental health, self-esteem, and ability to focus. That’s why mobile phones and personal devices are not allowed in school, and a part of what we teach is helping students navigate the digital world safely and wisely.
We are always happy to welcome prospective parents to visit and see our unique approach in action. If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch to arrange a visit using the contact us form.
