Maharishi School

knowledge is structured in consciousness

My name is Jonathan Pye and I teach Spanish to Years 7,8 and 9 and French to Years 10 and Year 11. I also teach Spanish to all the students in Years 1 to 6 in the Primary Phase.

I love teaching languages to students; I especially enjoy using a range of games and activities to pique students’ interest in the subject and I am a big fan of using a range of technology to further enhance students’ educational experience as they learn a language. I particularly enjoy using programs such as Kahoot! and Quizlet with my students as it helps them to better engage with the material they are learning whilst also using a range of cultural materials to help students improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

I am a big proponent of preparing students for the new MFL GCSE from the start of their high school languages education; as such, by the end of Year 7, students will already be familiar with some elements of the new GCSE and the marking criteria and will be better linguists as a result.

If you have any questions about the changes to the languages curriculum here at Maharishi, please get in touch – I would love to meet you.
