GCSE Dance

Dance develops creative, imaginative, physical, emotional and intellectual capacities. The GCSE Dance course helps pupils to develop technical and expressive skills as well as knowledge and understanding of dance through performance, choreography and critical appreciation.

The duration of the GCSE Dance course is two years and is accessible to pupils who are in years 9 and 10. The lessons take place off the school premises at Base Dance Theatre Academy in Ormskirk, and is delivered by fully qualified dance teachers. The current Maharishi year one pupils attend lessons every Tuesday evening during term time only from 5-7pm.

The course combines practical and written skills with a focus on choreography and performance, as well as analysis and criticism of dance. At the end of the two years pupils will be entering the AQA GCSE Dance examination and leaving Maharishi School with enhanced life and employability skills.
