Like many schools, the Maharishi School has an Open Day at the end of September, as well as one in mid-January. Both are always well attended, with parents from a wide geographical area wanting to see what this unique school is really like.
The recent Open Day, on September 28th, was the busiest ever with families having to queue to sign in. Thirty five families, with forty eight children attended the event, were shown around by helpful pupils from both the primary and secondary phase, and enjoyed meeting staff from both phases. For a school with only 18 pupils per class, these are great numbers. So many people went to the talk on the school’s system of Consciousness-based Education, that they filled the largest classroom in the school, with additional seating having to drafted in and some parents perched on desks at the back of the classroom.
The feedback was entirely positive, with many confirming that they would be applying for next year’s Reception class and others completing waiting list application forms. It seems that people are genuinely attracted to the school’s ethos, which includes daily meditation for both pupils and staff, to help develop their potential, as well as a curriculum that explores fundamental themes which underpin the experience of life.
Visitors to the school invariably comment on the school’s atmosphere and the Open Days are a great chance to see for yourself, although Headteacher, Mrs Edwards, welcomes the opportunity to show parents around the school at other times. To make an appointment just call 01695 729912.
The next Open Day is on Saturday 11th January at 10:00.
