Maharishi School Nursery Consulation
Here at the Maharishi School we are planning to expand our popular through-school (ages 4-16) by opening a nursery class to provide care for children aged 3-4. As part our consultation we would like to hear your views on this proposal.
Please help by completing a questionnaire.
A) if you have children who may benefit from such a nursery class.
B) you may have children in the future who would benefit.
C) even if your child would have benefitted in the past had this facility been available then.
The questionnaire is available to download or print here: Questionnaire
What are the benefits?
Parents will be able to claim their 15 hours funded nursery entitlement.
The nursery class will offer additional hours for children at a competitive price.
The nursery provision will be run by the school, using staff employed by the school.
The school will offer wrap-around care by expanding the Out of Hours Club to accommodate nursery pupils.
The proposed nursery class would operate each day (Monday to Friday) with sessions offered in the morning and the afternoon.
This will enable parents to claim their 15 hours’ entitlement, with the possibility to pay for additional hours at a very competitive rate if not eligible for the extra funded hours. We will also be able to provide lunch for our nursery children, through our current external school lunch provider.
The new Nursery class would be accommodated in a new building positioned next to our Reception class building (pictured) and will be of a similar, modern, energy efficient design. The external area surrounding these two buildings would be connected to form our new Early Years area.
The Nursery will have places for 18 children and session times will be flexible depending on requirements of families. Children will be eligible to attend the nursery class from the start of the term following their third birthday (Children who reach age 3 by 31 August 2019 will be eligible for the provision from September 2019).
You are warmly invited to attend a public meeting about this proposal at the Maharishi School Secondary site, Morris Birnbaum Building, Woodley Park Road, Ashurst, Skelmersdale, WN8 6UQ on Wednesday 7th November, 7.30 pm.
